A practical post-trip gear routine
A short reset keeps the next session from starting with a seized reel or a rusted hook.
Rinse salt off reels, pliers, hooks, and the rod with fresh water. Dry them before they go into a bag. A wet reel in a closed box is how the next trip starts with a seized drag.
Oil only what the kit in your hand actually contains. Do not assume a maintenance kit includes solvent or a spare handle. Replace line that is frayed, nicked, or coiled with memory before you pack it. A quick-dry towel is for your hands and the reel seat, not for storing hooks.
