LITHVOX / FIELD GUIDE
Choosing line for changing water
Pick braid, fluorocarbon or mono for the water in front of you, not for a single brand claim.
Braid casts farther and has almost no stretch. That makes it a poor main line for a treble-hook hard bait unless you add a leader that can stretch or disappear.
Fluorocarbon sinks and is harder to see beside cover. It is the usual leader material, and it is also sold as a main line. Monofilament stretches, which cushions a treble-hook bait, and it floats more than fluorocarbon.
Lithvox sells braid, fluorocarbon, and monofilament at the same price. Yardage and pound-test are not stated on that page. Read the spool before you fill a reel. None of those three choices is a tapered fly leader.
